Before conducting the recruitment process in an organization, there are several considerations that must be taken in to account.    Some of these consideration includes personal qualities and ability needed, desired level of training, recruitment policy, cost of recruitments and government policies and legislation affecting recruitment process. Having the right candidate to fill the vacant position is crucial for successful recruitment process. For St Patrick nursing home to ensure it future recruitment enable it to attract the right candidates, it must take into consideration the training level needed.   As stated by Mathis and Jackson (2011), establishing the Minimum academic qualification that candidates must possess allows organization to attract well trained candidates from where a competent worker can be hired. It is equally important for St Patrick Nursing home to consider the wide ranges of personal characters   needed by the job occupant to be hired.  It obvious that professional in health and social care setting must possess very strong character especially those relating to respect and dignity for humankind.  Consideration personal characters needed make it easier for recruiter during selection process as only those candidates that meet the basic personality required by a professional in health and social care should be considered. As pointed out by Fottler et al (2010), all recruitment in an organization neeed to be done in accordance to organization recruitment policy.  Organizations, with good human resources management practices usually have very clear   recruitment policies. These policies may touch on many aspect of recruitment including source of recruitment, channel for advertising recruitment to be used etc.  They must therefore be followed. In St Patrick nursing home, the person in Human resource officer in charge of recruitment should away conducted the recruitment of new staffs within the confine of the organization’s recruitment policies.
  • Explain how relevant legislative and policy frameworks of the home country influence the selection, recruitment and employment of individuals
Most of the countries around the world do have regulation touching on human resources management in organization. In the UK, there are quite good number of legislations that affect the human resource management practice in an organization.  Some of these legislations include but not limited to Employment Rights Act 1996, Employment Act 2008, Sex Discrimination Act 1975, the Race Relation Act (amendment) 2000, Equality act 2010. The employment Rights Act 1996 clearly indicates and protects workers’ rights. Some of the rights contained and protected in this legislation include redundancy, unfair dismissal, and employment contract among others. The Sex discrimination Act 1975 protects job applicants and existing workforces in an organization from discrimination based on their sex.   While conducting Human related function including recruitment, selection, training, compensation direct or indirect discrimination based on individual sex may be done.  For instance, during recruitment and selection practices a pregnant woman may be turn down due to her pregnancy. This can be a direct case of sex discrimination The Employment Act 2008 provides a mechanism for dealing with dispute and conflict relating to employment. In case employer and employee are in dispute to an employment related issues such as remuneration, working condition, employment contract etc, and the employment Act 2008 help resolves such dispute
