Choose one of the client scenarios as outlined below: Client A Christopher Jackson is a 46 year old man who has been in hospital for three days following surgery to his left knee. Christopher is reluctant to mobilise and regain his independence post-surgery which is delaying his discharge home. Christopher is feeling low in mood because his surgery means that he will not be able to work for six weeks, and due to being self-employed as a builder it means that he will have a loss of income. A nursing student has been asked to go and do a set of vital signs on Christopher and notices that he is lying quietly on his bed and is reluctant to engage in conversation.
  6.  Please note: This essay requires you to discuss therapeutic communication techniques appropriate to Christopher’s age and situation; you are not required to focus on his knee surgery. OR Client B Jennifer Billot is a 24 year old woman who has gone to her medical centre for a medical review prior to applying for the police. Jennifer has a history of asthma and is worried that this might impact on her application and ability to become a police officer. A nursing student has been asked to go and do a set of vital signs on Jennifer prior to the Doctor completing her medical review. On approaching Jennifer the nursing student notices that Jennifer appears worried. However, Jennifer is happy to discuss her concerns with the nursing student Please note: This essay requires you to discuss therapeutic communication techniques appropriate to Jennifer’s age and situation; you are not required to discuss her asthma.
